The Oyster Bar

One of New York's most atmospheric eateries in my humble opinion. I don't think I'm really qualified to give a complete review of the Oyster Bar, which is nestled in the bowels of Grand Central Station. After all when my Dad and I come here, it's always the same. We make a beeline for the luncheonette counter-- is it one of the last ones in New York?--and we order a bowl of New England Clam Chowder and Oysters Rockefeller.

The chowder needs the essential oyster crackers-- lots of them. Creamy and with loads of clam in it, this is perhaps my favourite clam chowder in the world--sorry Swan Oyster Depot.

Oysters Rockefeller. Okay so call me déclassé. This is basically creamed chopped spinach with an oyster gently laid atop and a dollop of buttery hollandaise spooned over the whole thing. Broil and serve. Yum.
